There is only one correct answer that is not being allowed out ny the government agency that is in charge of telling us what dietary requirements are; The FDA.

If you address that scientifically accurate solution as to why your obviously high functioned friend has a problem with focus, you will no longer even need to help your friend.

Address this dietary issue that is labeled a "fad hippy" diet by the media. Ask the questions I did and you will easily understand the genetic sciences behind my answers. Have your friend start a gluten free diet and call me in a month!

What I know about this gluten intolerance issue can fill an encyclopedia. What I know it did for my focus and anxiety was beyond belief.

Now there are doctors slowly jumping on board of this pure genetic science that gluten proteins are responsible for anxiety through a process that is known as mal absorption. They are even selling these theories on infomercials as an anxiety reliever.

The problem with this science is that it turns the entire industry developed over the past 70 years of psychiatry and pharmacology on its proverbial head. It makes these industries, that all contain the same warning labels may cause psychotic and/or suicidal behavior, into actual fossils. These sciences make these professions dinosaur!

The problem this is having means that the entire health care system can save potential trillions of dollars in a simple dietary change but in the process these industries that drive amazing wasted dollars would fall off the face of the planet.

Just as we are wasting moneys on industries in their death throws such as combustiable engines, we cannot make politicians do the correct jobs.

The future is here and we know what is happening.

What I know about this is everything. I am a diagnosed celiac sprue. I define what has happened in the past 100 years that has devastated the human pack mammal species through pure genetic and medical science. The related and associated dysfunctions read like what has happened in diabetics, autism, arthritis, asthma, epilepsy, learning and anxiety dysfunctions, all levels of mental health, etc, etc.

Here is the google search that I am claiming redefines us as a species, if you are stupid and brave enough to look.

"Dr. Alessio Fasano Mal absorption Celiac Anxiety disorder"

Dr. Fasano is a world leader in the field of food allergen who is currently teachiong our doctors the potentials of food allergen and is based at the University of Maryland medical school. The other guy is Dr. Peter Green who does the same thing at Columbia University.

This genetic science is real and ignored. Just google either of these genetic modifiers and learn why a drywaller knows so much about the pure sciences of mental health. I am the HLA DQ8 pacific Rim Hunter Gatherer. The other gene is the HLA DQ2 Atlantic Rim Hunter Gatherer. These genes are known to have propensity for gluten intolerance or celiac sprue. They are present in 90% of the world populace and the FDA still refuses to tell us our number one recomended food source is the cause of anxiety disorders.

That is the anxiety end. While I was suffering from these dysfunctions that do not exist, I could find no help in governmental services. I have been to the social sucurity offices and they offer to teach you how to make a resume and how to interview.

I thought I could get aid being autistic, but I do not qualify. I do not look like an autistic nor do I play the banjo. I can look you in the eye, and I have those genes associated with the dysfunction all say I do not have.

Science states through pure genetics that 40% of the public hold the CDH9 and the CDH10 variant required to be considered autistic. The most affected by food allergey are the highest functioners.

Good luck in the political mess that is soon to follow when the public learns that the FDA is in cahoots with pharmaceutical industry and they both put profit in front of our health again.

That's something you'll want to ask him about. Everyone is different. I honestly feel that when someone is with me during one it's doing more to make them feel better. He may want to be left alone, he might want you right there. I would say have a glass of water available for him, and afterwards ask if he'd like to take a nap. You can ask during if he'd like one of his pills. He may have something that will work quickly.Though a panic attack may only last a minute or so they're very draining. A nap can help to calm him down and sometimes helps to sort out thoughts. Don't try to talk to him during, he probably won't answer.
During just hold him, and talk to him in a comforting voice. Let him know that everything will be alright, and that you're there for him no matter what. And stay calm, watching someone you love go through it can be scary. You may want to watch his actions. I know I sometimes hurt myself during and don't realize. And make sure he's breathing. For some reason it's calming to stop breathing during an attack.
Once he's calmed down, or after a nap, ask if he wants to talk about what's going on. Sometimes they're sparked by absolutely nothing, so don't push too hard if he says no. If he does want to talk, listen. Be supportive. Help him think about his fear realistically. It's usually a very unrealistic fear that causes problems, he needs to see it from a different point of view. If he's scared about going back to school ask him why. Ask him what he's scared will happen, and how possible it is for it to happen.
The best thing to do is just talk to him about it. Say you were thinking about him and were wondering what he would want in the event of him having an attack. Just let him know you're there and you're concerned. Let him know how good he's doing, that he's handling everything well and you have confidence in him. But you wouldn't think any less of him if all the stress got to him. Everything will turn out alright, just don't think about it too much. If you have any more questions feel free to e-mail me, I've been dealing with depression and anxiety my whole life. I'm glad to help others deal with it, whether it's them or a loved one.

Yes! NAMI (the National Association for the Mentally Ill) has something they call The Warm Line. It is not staffed by professionals, but other sufferers of anxiety/depression/etc. It has proven invaluable to me. Also, do not take meds. They are all addictive, even antidepressants. You will be sorry if you start them, I am. What you want to do instead is research the subject a little. I bought a book called, I think, "Depression Free Naturally" which also discusses anxiety quite a lot. One good solution to panic attacks are large doses of a B vitamin called Inositol. Also, you can take the amino acids l-tyrptophan and GABA. Look up NAMI in your phone book to get the number. Also, they have many support group meetings.

Ignore None, he seems to have no idea what he's talking about. Major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders are caused by problems with brain chemistry. Life events can contribute to anxiety disorders, but they aren't the main cause. Compare anxiety disorders with diabetes. Diabetes is not caused by a bad diet or lifestyle, but can be aggravated by it.

SSRIs work by indirectly increasing the levels of serotonin in your brain. Serotonin is one of the many chemicals in your brain that affects mood (the other big ones are norepinephrine and dopamine). SSRIs don't make more serotonin, but they block the reuptake of seratonin, allowing you to soke in what you already have longer. They usually work well, particuarly for anxiety, and are well tolerated for the most part (most people only have to deal with nausea, diarrhea, weight gain, and sexual disfunction). However, they don't work for everyone, and some people have very bad reactions to them. If you're looking into SSRIs, Lexapro seems to work the best for anxiety and has the least side effects.

Benzos are older and work a little bit differently. They enhance a neurotransmitter called GABA, which helps calm you down. They work quickly. If you take some Lexapro, it won't help you with a panic attack you're having right now, but if you take Ativan, it will calm you down immediatly. You can take them with your SSRIs, or instead of, if SSRIs don't work for you or if you can't tolerate them. They're a good choice if you only get anxious occasionly; SSRIs or even antipsychotics are better for constant, chronic anxiety. If you struggle with depression, you shouldn't use benzos long term, because they can aggravate depression. They're also quite addictive.

Research both meds and talk to your psychiatrist about them. You can take one, both, or neither, depending on what your needs are. Also, I recommend you see a psychotherapist to help work through your anxiety. Allow me to go back to the diabetes metaphor. If you take insulin for diabetes, but sit around on the couch eating chocolate all day, you're probably not going to get much better. Same goes for anxiety. Meds will help, but only if you work through your issues and make some lifestyle changes as well.

I hope everything works out okay. You'll be in my prayers.
